"First Families" Workshop: This joint program between HCPL and the Southern Indiana Genealogical Society will provide an overview of the "First Families" project and suggest strategies for anyone wanting to learn more about researching direct descendants from a settler living in Floyd, Harrison or Clark Counties prior to December 31, 1840. The Worth of Royal Heroes: The Southern Indiana Grand Army of the Republic: Hear military history enthusiast Michael Peake speak about the nine G.A.R. posts that were in Harrison County. He will also provide an overview of the dozens of other posts within five neighboring counties, and discuss several key Civil War personalities of the region.
