Anything Goes Craft Day: Meet new people and work on any craft projects that you may have. FREE

 

The Art of Paper Quilling: Learn how to use strips of paper to make works of art. FREE | To register, call 812-952-3759

 

Cookie Decorating Class: In this class, instructor Mary Kulwicki will teach you the art of decorating summer-themed cookies. You will make four cookies to take home. COST: $12.00, which must be paid at time of registration. You can pay at any branch (space is limited)

 


Craft Circle: Bring your current crafting project or start something new! All skill levels are welcomed. Work at your own pace and enjoy the company of other crafters. FREE

 

Creative Cards Class: Come learn how to make homemade cards. In this class you will complete three cards to take home. COST: $5.00 (Register at 812-952-3759)

 

Family Tree Saplings 3: Farming Land Records: Harrison County Genealogist Lynne Keasling will discuss using deeds, land plats, and other property records to trace your genealogy and make some not so obvious connections to extended family members. Register at the Palmyra branch or by contacting the Genealogy Library at genealogy@hcpl.lib.in.us | 812.738.5412 

 

"First Families" Workshop: This joint program between HCPL and the Southern Indiana Genealogical Society will provide an overview of the "First Families" project and suggest strategies for anyone wanting to learn more about researching direct descendants from a settler living in Floyd, Harrison or Clark Counties prior to December 31, 1840. Fly Your Flag (Properly)!: Learn about some history, common uses, and missteps, of displaying the Red, White, and Blue. Participants may bring old, tattered American flags that are ready to be retired. Genealogy and Local History Explorers: Learn more about the collection at the Frederick Porter Griffin Center for Local History and Genealogy and what the Center can do for you. Kent Java: Focus on Espresso with a Latte Art Demonstration. Program will be held at Kent Java. Cost: $5.00 which is paid at the time of registration. You can register at any branch.

 

Kent Java Coffee 101: Bean to Cup: Participants will learn about coffee, play a coffee trivia game and make their own latte to drink there or to take with them.

Personal Journaling: Meet some new people and learn some useful journaling tips; you will also be given a suggested topic on which to journal. Don't forget to bring a journal with you! (Register by calling 812-952-3759) FREE


Quills and Quibble Writers' Group: Come join others who are interested in writing and get help and opinions from each other. FREE

Sit and Stitch Class: Come and join others who love to sit and stitch. Bring a current project or start something new. Work at your own pace and enjoy the company of others.

Friends of the Library Meeting: Come to meet other members and be a part of the Friends of the Library.


The Book Box: Visit the Friends of the Library store, located in the library's parking lot on the corner of Oak & Chestnut Streets. Here you can buy books, magazines and movies--and all of the proceeds go directly to purchasing items for your library.
