Youth Services

The Heather Dawn Eckart Library is located on the second floor of the Harrison County Public Library at 105 North Capitol Avenue , Corydon , Indiana . Youth Services offers a wide collection of books for every age group from infants to teens. Among our collection are:

Story Bags and Parent Packs
** 1 - 3 grade fiction Easy Reader books for young readers
** Toy & board books
** Books on tape
** 4 - 5 grade fiction
** Teen fiction, fantasy, & horror
** An extensive collection of non-fiction books for research, learning, and study and MUCH more!

Youth Services also offers many services to young readers, parents, and educators, such as:

** Programs and activities for children ages birth to eighth grade
** Youth educational game computers

utoring space
** The Breeden Youth Activity Center
** Parenting resources section
** Homeschool Resources and texts

Breeden Youth Activity Center

The Activity Center , located on the second floor of the Harrison County Public Library, in Youth Services, is a colorful playroom, equipped with a read-aloud nook, puppets, building blocks, child-sized activity tables, a kitchenette, and giant, huggable teddy bears. Most of the Library's Youth Programs take place in the Activity Center.

Here you will find the Easy Reader books, and the 1st - 3rd grade reading materials. You will also find smiling young people happily absorbing the nurturing environment. Stop in during regular business hours with your child to explore this valuable community resource.

Youth Programs

The Heather Dawn Eckart Library offers a variety of programs intended to help children learn about themselves and the world around them. The Library programs widen Youth experience with literature, relate to Youth physical, emotional and intellectual concerns and encourage the sharing of experiences with other children of the same age. Programs are available for children ages Birth to 8th grade.

Also, during summer break, the Library offers a Youth Summer reading program, with themed activites, prizes, and rewards for reading 5, 10, 15, & 20 books.
