Part-Time Makerspace Assistant
Department: Lanesville Branch
Reports to: Assistant Director and Director
Hours per week: 7.5 to 15 (part-time); fill-in as needed. Training period will require up to 37.5 hours per week for the first month.
JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Makerspace Assistant will assist patrons in using the makerspace. This is a part-time position that requires 7.5 to 15 hours per week and to fill in as needed. Dependability and consistent attendance are required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school education
- Some familiarity with crafting, technology and related makerspace equipment
- Cooperative attitude and ability to organize work and exercise good judgment
- Personality, attitude and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and staff members in a professional manner
- Must be aware of and adhere to library and makerspace policies
- Knowledge of computer applications
- Understand the necessity for, and maintain confidentiality of library users
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist users of all ages in the makerspace with a variety of machinery and software including 3D printers, laser engraver/cutter, vinyl printer/cutter, poster printer, Cricut, Adobe software, Corel Draw, and other equipment as added
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment for the makerspace
- Able to troubleshoot a variety of devices.
- Working knowledge of PC and Mac operating systems and Microsoft Office Applications
- Keep abreast of trends in technology
- Maintain good relations with public and staff.
- Assist patrons in identifying and locating information using computerized and print resources.
- Follow and enforce policies and procedures consistently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of library clerical procedures and practices
- Good knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System
- Good ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Good ability to pay attention to detail
- Good ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates and the general public
OTHER:
- Cooperating as a team member with the library staff in performing any duties essential to the achievement of the objectives of the library

Genealogy Assistant
Reports to: Genealogy Department Head
Hours per week: part-time (25-28 hrs/week); some weekends required
Pay begins at $13.86 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.
JOB OBJECTIVE is to assist the Department Head and local history and genealogy library patrons.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree
- An interest in or knowledge of local history and genealogy is a plus
- Must be able to perform research in-library
- Must be able to navigate stairs and lift heavy books

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assists patrons in person
- Answers very simple patron requests by telephone; instructs patrons to email/write the department head for more complex research requests
- Informs Department Head of any supplies that need ordering
- Files documents
- Photocopies documents
- Returns documentation to appropriate place
- Pulls documentation for patrons and Department Head
- Assists Department Head in special projects

- Create Databases
- Covers department, opens and closes the Frederick Porter Griffin Center, in absence of other staff
- Occasionally attends training
- Completes required staff trainings – CPR, Safe Place, Internal Controls, BeanStack, etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Help with spraying cleaner on the building while the maintenance department power washes the building. Also, keep hoses untangled, hold the ladder, and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Able to stand for long periods; able to lift 25Ibs; able to be out in the sun.
